About Me

Welcome to my blog! My name is Luis, and I'm excited to share my professional and educational works related to my passion for leadership and education. This blog serves as a portfolio and showcase of my ongoing pursuit of a Masters of Education (M.Ed.) degree. In addition to my current pursuit, I hold a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with professional certification in Project Management.

I began my teaching journey as a substitute teacher in Colorado during the pandemic, which ignited my interest in pursuing a career in education after serving in the military. As a Senior Instructor at the Quartermaster School (QMS), I am grateful to work alongside some of the best civilian educators and military instructors in the field.

As a leader, I value building relationships and connections with others, and my goal is to continuously learn and develop new skills, such as blended learning, to create a positive environment for the next generation of leaders. I am passionate about empowering and helping others grow into their best selves, and I believe there's nothing more rewarding than seeing someone reach their full potential.

My M.Ed. degree is crucial in achieving my dreams of furthering my career in education as a future civilian instructor for the Department of the Army. I am fascinated by the intersection of empowerment, leadership, and technology in instructional design and online learning, and I look forward to sharing my insights and experiences with you through this blog.

My
Story

Get to Know Me

I believe in being a servant leader who puts the needs of others before my own and helps them develop to their fullest potential. I have had the privilege of learning from my own personal experiences, both as a first-generation college graduate and as an immigrant facing barriers to inclusion and communication. These experiences have instilled in me a deep commitment to removing barriers to education for students and everyday people, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Through my work promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in academia and the workforce, I advocate for Open Educational Resources (OER) and General Universal Design (UDL) principles to make education more accessible and engaging for all. Through my years of leadership and education, I have seen firsthand how diverse teams make each other stronger. I have worked alongside talented and creative individuals who bring unique perspectives and insights to complex problems.

I am constantly inspired by the determination of my students and soldiers who overcome obstacles to attend university while also serving their country and communities. I am committed to continuing to support and empower individuals to reach their full potential and make a positive impact in the world. My ultimate goal is to make a positive impact on the next generation of students, and soldiers to help create a more equitable and inclusive educational system.

In summary, my life experiences have shaped me to become a servant leader who is deeply committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in education and the workforce. I understand firsthand the struggles and obstacles that students from different backgrounds may face.
